How can the fluid display of conventional video games be guaranteed?
After the past few weeks, I’ve been working on my thesis with the topic:
„How can the fluid display of conventional video games be guaranteed?“
I have successfully finished it by now, which prepared me a lot for my upcoming bachelor thesis.
The thesis contains an english abstract, which I will post here too, but to read the full thesis you must be able to read German.
Here is the english abstract and the download link to the full thesis:
This thesis handles about the question:
„How can the fluid display of conventional video games be guaranteed?“
First, the basics of human visual perception in terms of movements, the latest display technologies and the existing technologies for the fluid display of video games are explained. The state of the technology contains two columns of the german magazines CHIP and PC Games about this topic. Unfortunately there are no scientific studies, technical studies, data from experiments or other publications about this topic. Finally, three common hypotheses are analyzed and formed to a synthesis, to answer the question of this thesis.
The result shows that there are several factors that affect the fluid display of video games. Firstly, the FPS should be high, constant and adapted to a multiple of the frequency of the monitor. Secondly, the brightness of the room and the screen should be reduced. Thirdly, motion blur effects should be activated, if they are available and have been well implemented.
